It seeks to fill the gap between academic knowledge and the needs of recent graduates.

The Digital Freelancing project wants to offer students of the partner universities, as well as students and recent graduates interested in this subject-specific training and opportunities to develop practical skills in order to gain a practical and realistic view of working as a freelancer. In addition, it will offer advice and guidance before, during and after their decision to pursue a freelance career, providing training to faculty members on the digital labour market, workforce requirements and essential skills to ensure that this knowledge reaches a greater number of students.

In the framework of the project, the CID-CCS Lab team created, in collaboration with the Panteion University Career Office, a physical and a digital hub to support activation of students and graduates as digital freelancers. Furthermore, the digital Hub includes information about freelancing (digital and analogue) in the other countries participating in the diFree programme, as well as the possibility for online counselling.

Project’s webpage: https://www.difree-project.it
Digital Hub’s webpage: https://difree-hub.eu/

Social and Emotional Responses to Pandemic COVID-19 (SERP-19)

Principal Investigator: Prof. Yannis Skarpelos

The project was carried out within the framework of the 4th Call for Action “Science and Society” – Emblematic Action – “Interventions to address the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic” (ELIDEK) (contract 39161/09.09.2021).

The objectives of the project were: (a) to study the measurable impacts – social and emotional – of the pandemic, as well as their dynamics before, during, and after the first lockdown, as captured on social media, and (b) to study the impact of these effects on individual behavior. The project aimed to study the Greek case comparatively with other national cases.

During the reference period, more than 100 million tweets were collected through the Twitter API, in all available languages. From these, Greek, Italian, and German tweets were isolated, and computational analysis of the evolution of sentiment and emotions for the quarter March-May 2020 was performed, as well as an analysis of online behavior and user discourse. The study examined the differences recorded between Greece, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Visualizations that were created to support the analysis due to the large volume of available data play a central role.

Project website: https://serp19.gr

Research for Innovative Practices in emergency management of Erasmus Community (RIPEC)

Principal Investigator: Prof. Yannis Skarpelos

The general objective of the RIPEC project (Research for Innovative Practices in Emergency Management of Erasmus) was the identification of problems and solutions in order to adopt innovative processes and tools for managing emergency situations in Erasmus mobility.

Specific objectives were:

The empowerment of the International Relations-Erasmus offices of Universities and Erasmus students, and concurrently, the development of tools for effective decision-making and information exchange through an innovative study,

The improvement of the connection between the International Relations-Erasmus offices of Universities and incoming/outgoing students in case of emergencies, in accordance with the Erasmus+ Charter and national and EU emergency regulations,

The enrichment of staff knowledge and the provision of new ICT data and tools for managing emergency situations,

The modernization of the mobility management process by introducing innovative methods such as ICT and audio-visual applications.

Project website: https://www.ripec-project.eu

Interactive Tourist Guide

Principal Investigator: Prof. Yannis Skarpelos

The project was carried out within the framework of the “Research – Create – Innovate” Program, code T1EDK-03874, in collaboration with the company Geoapikonisis AEMGE and the University of the Peloponnese.

The subject of the project was the creation of a mobile application that functions as an interactive tourist guide for visitors to the Attica Region, incorporating innovative technologies and elements of gamification.

The Laboratory focused on developing a suitable typology of visitors, in dialogue with existing typologies but taking into account the impacts of the decade 2010-2020 during which tourism trends changed significantly.
