E. Roinioti, E. Pandia, Y. Skarpelos (eds) (2019). Digital Games: Philosophical, social and cultural pursuits, OASIS publications [in Greek].

The book “Digital Games: philosophical, social and cultural pursuits”, is an introductory textbook addressed to students, professionals and those interested in the field of Digital Games research. This first volume in the series on Digital Culture and Creative Industries addresses issues of philosophy, history, education, economics, work, leisure, sport and social interaction and trends that develop in the context of participation in digital games.

The book seeks to highlight the function of digital games as cultural products-producers of complex meanings in the culture of everyday life and culture, to make a first collection of interdisciplinary approaches aimed at analysing phenomena related to digital games. More specifically, this collection of texts attempts on the one hand to highlight some of the dynamics that players develop as they participate in digital games, actively shaping the future of the digital games industry, while on the other hand, taking into account current trends, it aims to trace the potential of the medium, to identify the aspirations of its players and to foreshadow the technological developments that accompany it, constantly opening up new applications and research questions.
